The Great War (World War I) began in Europe but American soldiers eventually came to the aide of the Allies. In addition to the war efforts people from all parts of the world were dying from Influenza or the flu. This well researched book documents medical history and research surrounding the flu and explains how devastating it was to the entire world.  What is more surprising is that the devastation and deaths caused by the 1918 Influenza pandemic, is that the world is well overdue for another flu catastrophe according to medical scientist.

This book is ideal for those interested in medicine or learning more about the flu virus. The author provides easy to read history and analysis of the evolution of the virus as well as the treatments used in the past. This book was added to the collection last school year and it is a well received addition. Not only was this book informative but it was a pleasure to read too.
